I am SOOO proud of you!! That’s my job for tomorrow after I send the kiddo back off to school. I am NOT looking to forward to waking up when it’s still dark!! That is just so wrong!

  2. Woohoo!
I got to skip the whole uproar this year – finally convinced the husband we didn’t need a tree. So happy!

  3. Hooray! I put all my stuff away yesterday and it feels great. I usually like to keep the lights in the windows until Epiphany but I knew if I didn’t do it yesterday then it would be up until next weekend and I just couldn’t take it anymore!

  4. Good for you! I still have a menorah to box up and can’t quite get around to it.

Today is Epiphany, the day the three kings arrived. It follows the 12 days of Christmas, and is the traditional day to take down the decorations. That puts you right on schedule!

  6. I’ve discovered to my great delight that a tiny, table-top tree is much easier to put up and take down than a full size tree. I might even be persuaded to do this again.

    Or not.

  7. We did that yesterday too. Now I have the post-Christmas blahs. I’m going to work on my mittens to cheer me up!

I have a tradition of putting all my Christmas things up the day after Thanksgiving and I put them away on January 1st. It makes it feel special during the brief time that I have those decorations out.

So is ours! AND….. the first half of the “Christmas newsletter”/ cards actually went out today! (When my kids were in high school they decided to skip celebrating Christmas/Hannukah with their friends, and instead they had “Secret Groundhogs” rather than “secret Santas” when they gave presents on February 2nd. It worked beautifully… by February, the budget had recovered and the Christmas overload was long past, and they all really enjoyed being a little eccentric, anyway!

That is my project for tonight. I planned to do it yesterday, but it was my son’s last day home before going back to school, and although he planned to leave at 1, which would have been perfect for undecorating, we had to make three trips to the cellphone store to replace his phone…which he just got the day after Thanksgiving. They replaced it twice with phones that immediately stopped working! So I will now have to do the tree tonight after work. I’d wait till Saturday but that is my birthday (a big one) and I refuse to have the tree there for it and to have to do that job that day!

  11. I so know what you talk about. I once had a tree with barely a needle (except for the ones on the floor, of course) fully decorated. In February. Late February. So, even though I didn’t feel like it at all, I put away all the decorations today. And the tree is outside. I can’t believe it myself! 😉
