Kicking it

The fear has crept into my mind. About health, future and present. My Mom has been so sick lately (she is once again in the hospital with a possible intestinal infection. I have pleaded with her to see a specialist but she will have none of it. I am quite afraid of where this will lead her….) that it has me thinking of my long term health. As you know, I’ve been nagging you to eat your fiber. (You ARE, aren’t you??) For me, it now has to go further.

I have joined along with Kim and Kathy in their Spring into Summer! a 12 week self improvement time. I will rely on the old tried and true plan.

Less. More. More. More.

eat LESS. move MORE. MORE fiber. MORE fruits and vegetables.

That is my plan. And Diet Coke? Out the door. Kicked to the curb. I can’t stand the thought of putting all of that into my body any longer.
It’s not ME, Diet Coke, it’s YOU.

But a girl sometimes has to have her bubbles. So, I’m all set to go:

Their juicy, sproingy tartness is awaiting me..

Their juicy, sproingy tartness is awaiting me..

and in the fridge?

Bubbles await me

Bubbles await me

I like to drink some bubbles every now and then, what can I say?

  1. Good for you, Sandy!

Is there any rum and mint to do with the limes and bubbles?

  2. Joy

Hooray for you, and thinking good thoughts for your Mom!

  3. Yay for US. All of us. We need a Ravelry group for this. Another kick-the-can group. Just a warning with the above lovely, healthy choice – you might need some caffeine of some sort so you don’t fall off the wagon due to headaches and incredible cravings — dare I suggest it, even — the D.T.’s!!!! So some strong regular tea, or yerba mate is high in caffeine, too. Those things have REALLY helped me.

Today my cleaning friend told me that she puts teabags into seltzer bottles, and it makes a nice, fizzy, flavored drink. I think I’m gonna try it! Imagine ginger tea bags with seltzer — a refreshing (but not sweet) drink, perhaps!

  4. Awesome. I’m so happy to read this.

Yay! I’m trying to get on the “move more” part of things. The girlie and I are doing some excercise as soon as I get home in the evenings, and she’s good about being THE ENFORCER.

Will eat an apple for you, too. Fiber IS our friend.

  6. I don’t know, that’s taking a lot on at once. I know I could handle the first three but please, not the Diet Coke. Does moving your knitten’ fingers more count?

  7. Go grrl!!! Lime fizz would be a perfect quencher, good idea!!

  8. Inspired by K&K, Katie and I both weighed and measured and wrote the numbers in a notebook that we have stashed in the upstairs bathroom. I have not been stellar these past few days, but I’m finding my groove and I’m determined to do less and more, too.
    ; )

  9. I just checked out the link and even if I’m too late, I still plan on joining along. I’m not looking to lose a ton of weight (even though I could use a good 40), but I want to move more. I’m too young to feel this old. The key for me is to eat like I did when I was pregnant. I cut out diet coke (which I don’t see happening any time soon) and only drank regular soda. I can’t drink as much of regular soda so that had me cut back a LOT! I ate more fruit, and dessert was melted semi sweet chocolate chips and strawberries. I could NOT eat fast food, it made me really ill. So if I just cut out fast food and cut back on the snacks, I would drop weight. SOOO much easier said than done.

  10. I’m in but I don’t think I made the deadline. I was shocked by my measurements (winter hibernation weight really creeps up!). I’ve already drank 5 glasses of water today and went for a 3 mile run (my second since last October). Just need to keep all this up!

  11. Go Sandy!!! I’m with you, my friend.
