Doing my part to save the economy and a tv addiction

Yesterday, I heard words that I never really thought I’d hear until my (terrible , horrible, very bad) stove died it’s last painful death with no hopes of resuscitation. Andy all of a sudden said to me “let’s go buy a new stove”. Huh? You talking to me? Me in my pajamas, vacuuming, laundrying and various other Saturday fun times in process.

A person can shower and get ready very fast when they want to, I’m going to tell you. The mood may have passed and we canNOT have that.

I had a couple of conditions. It MUST have a radiant ceramic cook top, a 5th warming burner as a bonus and a huge oven. Thank you, Kenmore.

On May 4th my new stove will be delivered. I wonder what meal I should christen it with . (And? As a bonus? If I bake anything in the next week that spills over, I will leave it! )

Just doing our part for our world economy. It had nothing to do with me at all.

Mitchell has become quite addicted to television watching. I kid you not. Yesterday I had to turn the tv off so the CAT would stop watching. Srsly. How whacked is that?  Click to see a video of Mitchell watching funniest home videos, the program that we taped for him. It wasn’t the funniest of all the watchings because he has been known to jump full bore at the tv to get the cat or the anchorman’s hands or whatever catches his fancy.

This is a problem I could have never anticipated.  Hopefully he will burn himself out on this new obsession. Right now, he has finally fallen asleep (in front of the tv, of course). He’s kind of taking after Andy now. (heh)

The weather is FINE here. We have a taste of summer. I’ve gotten to wear my new Birkenstock sandals, the trees are getting buds, tulips are blooming. Spring is welcomed here!

How’s your spring coming along? (Or your autumn if you are on the flip side.)

  1. Yay!

I mean, I am so sorry for the loss of your stove. /ahem

I’m not surprised he likes tv. A lot of cats are attracted to the movement and sounds. Just don’t leave him alone with the remote. You don’t want him getting any weird ideas from those Hollywood types. o.O

    Spring? What’s spring?

We have daffs and tulips all over, and cherry, plum and apple trees in full bloom! The grass snickers when we cut it and grows faster overnight.

I had a lovely B&W cat named Homer who had a thing for the New Orleans Saints. He’d sit at the end of the coffee table, inches from the screen, but only when THEY played. He also liked to sleep on the cable box–we found that out when we taped things like 2.5 hours of static. He finally revealed to us that it’s true purpose was a cat-butt warmer, really.

Congrats on the new stove – I’m sure you’ll enjoy it! The video of Mitchell is a hoot – our guys usually only respond to critter sounds on tv, and basically ignore it the rest of the time.

My mother had a girl kitty who was in LOVE with the Morris the Cat cat food commercials. She’d walk up to the screen and pat his face adoringly.

Come to think of it, our first Siamese loved auto races – short track, particularly. Round, and round, and round…made for cats!

  5. I do like warm, but this is a bit excessive.

  6. We used to have a cat that loved TV. His favorites were nature shows – he loved to whack gazelles. But he would be quite content to watch movies with us.

It was a glorious Saturday in northern Vermont – spring is finally sprung!

Your cat is too cute! Summery day in Ct. this weekend. Tomorrow it’s headed for 90! Too hot too soon, but I’m not complaining. We’re off to chilly Maine on thurs.

  8. Our boy kitty watches TV. Not obsessively though!

What’s this thing you call Spring? It snowed a bit here yesterday. I only know Winter.

  9. Great stove! I vote for peach cobbler as the first cooked item. Perfect for this spring/summer weather! And did I get this right? You TAPED a show for your cat???!? Too funny.

  10. OOOH that is a NICE stove!!! Good girl, gotta go when the goin’s good!!

  11. Congrats on the new stove! It sounds like a nice one. I’m not sure Rick would notice if ours went out. 🙂

Katie likes to watch CNBC, and she’s 9 so she still hasn’t grown out of it. I’m hoping it’s just the ticker at the bottom of the screen and not her stock quotes.

We blasted right past spring and into summer.
